Bittersweet

  • Mood: Hopeful
  • Music: Save Tonight - Eagle-Eye Cherry
This is the time of year when I'm always torn between pure joy for the prospect of summer and sadness for the people I'll miss.  I couldn't be happier that school is ending and a summer of sleep, chill time, and wild adventures is about to begin.  This time of year just makes me reminisce.  I don't want anyone to go away for college.  I don't wanna think about how many people are moving on to bigger and better things.  Maybe I'm just emotional tonight, but I feel so damn sad sometimes.  Why?  I'm not sure.  I'll still be seeing everyone over the summer.  I would go for a run to settle down my emotions but its almost 2 am.  A little late.  Actually at this hour I would be tempted to run down to Walnut Park and cover myself in mud from the stream, then play on the swingset and roll in the grass in the moonlight, but that's just me.  Now that actually sounds like fun.  Shout me a holla if you ever feel like doing that.

That's enough reminiscing for me.  That's basically all I've done today, but I'm over it now.  I had some good chill time with Sara and Mel after yearbook signing, plus Anna never fails to cheer me up!  Although I have to say the one thing that isn't really going for me tonight is the wildlife.  First a crazed possum stared me down for a full minute while I was leaving my hosue around 1:15 AM to pick up my yearbook from Anna.  Now I'm inside once again, but I swear to God, there is the eagle of Satan outside my window.  It sounds scary as hell.  I thought about going outside to see what it actually is, but I decided I may not live to tell the tale.

I guess that's all I have to say.  Except that I love you all and the class of 2007 will be kickin' it this summer!  Peace!

What We Do for Fun in Corvallis

  • Mood: Adrenaline rush
  • Music: T.I. - Bring 'Em Out
Woah it's been a while.  Let me catch you all up - last week was average on the school front, but really picked up the pace on Saturday.  I woke up, went out and rode my horse, and went staight to the park to play some mad soccer.  We had some really good players there, I was impressed.  I'm still determined to learn how to juggle a soccer ball, but I'm so hand-eye coordinately challenged that it's a slow process.  Then I headed home for about half an hour madly trying to clean up, and went to see Star Wars!  Yessss...  So entertaining.  Obviously some of the dialogue is going to be clumsy, but I still loved it.  Plus I had myself a nice little fantasy about Hayden Christansen.   Moving on from there, I spent some valuable girl time with Anne primping and singing girly songs before we headed to the "rave" - which was off the hook!  Such an awesome time!  I got in touch with some people I hadn't seen in a while and danced with hotties and just had myself a blast.  The only downside was how amazingly hot and humid it was.  Like being in the middle of the rainforest.  Everyone was minimizing their clothing and I kept trying to drink enough water, but I almost passed out becuase all I'd eaten all day was a granola bar and popcorn.  Bad idea, dont ever, ever try it.  Not that I did it on purpose, I just kind of forgot to eat.  I finally got home at 12:45 exhausted but feeling so good from all the dancing.  I spent the rest of that weekend chillin' with the friends and recovering.

Now for the recent stuff - can you say scavenger hunt?  We were all hanging out at CV for a sophmore class fundraiser, and when we started to feel the need for something more exciting Lacey and I put together a scavenger hunt.  We made up a team of girls and a team of guys and listed off everything that had to be done complete with pictures as proof.  So we got things settled and then I raced Garrett out of the parking lot - only to remember that Thomas was hanging onto my car!!!  Opps!  I was so scared that I'd killed him, but no harm done.  The night progressed with us madly driving around Corvallis in my car screaming and laughing and sprinting through parking lots.  Some of the highlights were Lyndsay jumping into a private swimming pool fully clothed (good thing she was riding in the trunk), me trying on a thong at Kmart over my jeans and asking a random guy if it fit me, Anna asking a stranger to marry her on bended knee, and a bunch of other crazy stunts.  We drove to the waterfront and performed our final act (making a pyramid cheerleader-style) and won the game!  We dominated the guys.  Completely owned them.  Victory is sweet!  I'm finally back home after a brief Sherri's run, and it's time to fall into bed and rest up for tomorrow.  I'll try to get the pictures of us if I can, we'll see.  Peace all!

The Shins, P-town, and Mermaids

  • Mood: So very happy
  • Music: Mars Loves Venus - The Brunettes
If you didn't go see the Shins in concert YOU MISSED OUT! They were amazing live!  Totally rocked the joint.  I thought we were gonna break the floor in the Crsytal Ballroom when we were jumping and screaming for an encore - which we got, naturally.  It was so loud in there that it actually ceased to be sound.  Anna, Mel, Rose, Sam and I couldn't hear right for about ten minutes after the band stopped playing.  Everything sounded like it was being played on a tinny car stereo - or in Anna's case, like she'd been sucking helium.  Plus the opening band was fantastic, which is almost never the case.  The Brunettes - keep an eye out for 'em.  They're from New Zealand, and all good things are imported.  Plus the lead singer was gorgeous, which is a bonus.  What an awesome night!  I got home at about 2 AM, so I've been trying to catch up on sleep all week.

Actually it's 1:45 AM right now, so I'm off to bed soon.  Just thought I'd leave things on a cool but extremely odd note with my dream from last night.  It was like one big long game of capture the flag - only I was a mermaid.  And so were all of my friends.  We lived in an underwater cave and we were sabotaging and sneaking around the army guys (who were hot by the way - lucky me) and trying not to get caught.  I can remember all of these random details.  So I guess it really was nothing like capture the flag, but it was just soooo entertaining!  This makes me wonder why my dreams are so completely out of this world.  I guess sometimes you just gotta say "What the fuck?"

Mayhem

  • Mood: Satisfied
  • Music: Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
The past few weeks have been a bit crazy on my part.  I'm pretty much a one-woman circus, but it's okay.  Everyone seems to put up with me pretty well. So far this weekend I've gone to visit my girl Sam's new boyfriend (he's great Sammy, even though I did razz him a bit!), had a fun night of movie watchin' followed by partying at a gorgeous house, a suprise birthday party for Lacey, and Mr. CV, followed by more mad partying.  I've been experimenting with how far I can miss my curfew by before my parents start getting edgy.

Now that it's finally Sunday, the official day for students to chill out and do some last minute homework, I'm just having a powwow with myself and and playing video games.  I really should be studying for a chem test, but it's just not gonna happen.  I'm exhausted from lack of sleep and coming down with a cold, but the last couple of days were worth it.   These types of weekends are my absolute fave becuase I get to keep movin' and meet new people, including some hotties.  The one thing I passed on was going streaking at Coldstone's, but I'm curious to find out if the guys actually pulled it off.

I feel like there's more to say about me right now, but I don't know what I want to talk about.  Post me ideas or something. Maybe something cool and introspective will come of it.  Now I'm off to rest up for the new week.  Peace all!

Adventures

  • Mood: Content
  • Music: Pretty Girls Go Insane - Outrageous Cherry

I've had a hell of a weekend, that's for sure.  Started out with a concert, late night taco bell runs, and being dragged from my car by my ankles into the middle of a water balloon fight at 12:30 AM (Luke and his friends are crazy like that).  I also found out that I'm awful at following people  in cars (Sorry, Anne.  I swear the van I followed looked just like you!)  But I managed to get home in one piece.  I spent the rest of the week out with friends looking for fun things to do, and all in all it was an eventful few days.  My only down fall was trying to sneak into Sin City and failing miserably; I got trapped in Hitch for an hour and a half instead.  I guess I can't always get what I want.

Note to anyone who's reading this: if someone ever writes you a message on your windsheid in sunscreen, don't use wiper fluid on it.  It just smears everywhere.  Natalie and I had to drive to the Chevron station and beg them to use their squeegee, but I give Matt props for creativity.  Too bad I couldn't read his message.

Tomorrow my six months are up!  I've been driving people all over town for quite a while now, but it's still a milestone for me.

It's getting late and I have to be rested for a killer math test, but I'll post more later.  Good luck on getting through the week, all!

Soap, Parties, and Sleeping In

  • Mood: Refreshed
  • Music: Howie Day - She Says

Hahahaha I'm not at school right now!  Yesssss...  No health class for me!  I decided to stay home and catch up on homework instead.  Life can be pretty good.  I think I've finally overcome my tired spell after all my late-night homework and hanging out with friends and partying.

So on Saturday I found out that I'm awful at pool, unless I try for a completely unnecesary behind-the-back shot.  Which worked both time perfectly.  Amazing.  Then I headed over to hang with Anne and Lydia and we all went to Marzinis for dinner, then headed out to the Scandy's party.  It was insane!  I cannot imagine how long it took them to get everything up.  Lights strung up and smoke machines and strobelights and mad techno and poker rooms, and everything else.  So tight.  Anne and I had some major booty-shakin' goin' on around midnight.  I drove home with my head out the window trying to get the smokey smell out of my hair.

The soapers got me!!!  It blows my mind that they pulled off sneaking up to my house at 9 PM when my parents and my loud dogs were all up and alert.  It's amazing.  I have to go clean the message off of my window sometime, but for now it's staying up as a memento.  We finally caught them though!  After more than a week of secrecy.  Probably the most intense chase story I've ever heard, involving masks and water ballons and rambo tactics and car chases.  But I won't give the away the whole shebang on here in case anyone hasn't heard yet.

Time for me to head back to school.  I just need to make it to the four-day weekend.

Life in the Fast Lane

  • Mood: cheerful
  • Music: Hot Hot Heat - Goodnight, Goodnight

In the past week I've been mostly chillin out and doing homework, but some exciting things have finally started to happen.  I rode a motorcyle today!  As in drove it myself.  It was amazing!  I had an advantage becuase I drive a stick, so I could actually start it.  It all came about because I went out to Garfield Park to play soccer with the gang.  Only Max, Roy, and I were there for a few minutes becuase a lot of people were busy, so we were hanging out.  Then J.C. drove over on his motorcycle, and becuase we had nothing better to do he taught me how to ride it.  SO much fun.  I did pretty well, considering I'm not very good at riding a bike.  I just couldn't figure out how to turn it.  When I finally stopped to get off, I didn't know that you had to put down the stand first.  The thing is way heavier than I am, so when I shifted my weight it started tipping.  It wasn't even dramatic, just a slooow, ponderous tip.  I tried to fight it, but then I just gave up and started laughing.  I was on soft grass, so no big deal, and J.C. lifted the motorcyle off me.  Hella fun.  Then more people came, and the six of us challenged about 10 Mexican guys who were playing at the end of the field.  For sure one of the best games ever!  They kept yelling in Spanish, and some of them were really good.  We retaliated by yelling things like gato and painting war stripes of mud on our faces.  Rock on.  Too bad tomorrow's gonna be lame, but I'll have the memory of my motorcycle ride to get me through.

Spring Break

  • Mood: Chilled out
  • Music: The Shins cd (thank you Mel)

I'd like to say that I haven't posted for a week because I've been too busy being wild and crazy during Spring Break, but sadly that's not true.  Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad Spring Break.  Just not amazing either.  I caught up on my sleep, watched movies, went to Travis's party (Happy 16th if you're reading this) and ran around downtown in the dead of night.  Whenever I'm downtown late I do things like walk to Central Park and climb trees near the shadows and lay down in the street under the traffic light (it was a quiet intersection, by the way).  I have no idea why, maybe the neon lights just get to me.  What can I say?  That's as exciting as life got for me this week.

And now I'm back to school and have remembered why I hate math so much.

Damn.

Random fact: I have ebay madness.  You can get the sweetest things for such good prices.  Someone please stop me before I bid too much!

New Experience

  • Mood: Yesssss...
  • Music: Gavin DeGraw - Just Friends

Bit of a crazy day out here.  I went out to the barn this morning to take care of my horse, then got a flat tire driving home on Highway 99!  My tire is destroyed beyond belief.  I was pretty freaked out.  Apparantly it had a defect, because it went from being fine to being a rim with a fringe of rubber around it in about a second.  Which would be why it started making a godawful noise and jerking around on the road.  Then I called my parents to come help me change the tire since I've never had this happen beofre.  While I was just sitting there with my emergency flashers on, this guy rode up behind me on a bike and just stopped and stared straight ahead at my car for a full minute.  After two or three minutes I finally leaned out my window and told him to go around me.  He just gave me a blank stare and then started peddling by.  Never said a word.  I was a bit freaked out.  My parents came and I took another car home so I could get to Garfield.

Once I got to Garfield we played some intense soccer.  I fell down about eight times (sometimes with help from other people, sometimes just on my own momentum) because that's just me.  I had a crazy three-way collusion with Jake and giant Roy becauseJake and Roy were both going for the ball.  Since Roy was on my team, I had the bright idea to just slip in front of Jake and take one for the team so that Jake wouldn't steal the ball away.  Next thing I knew we were all laid out on the grass laughing.  Probably the most simultaneous force I have felt on my body ever, but it was hilarious.  Plus some random guys were filming us, and we had no idea why.  It was a bit odd, but whatever.  Soccer at the park rocks, especially becuase Anna came today!  Even though she was all doped up on extra-strength tylenol.  Now I'm off to do some homework and other sensible things.  Wish me luck.

Flower Child

  • Mood: Cheerful
  • Music: Such Great Heights - The Postal Service

Life is good because there is sunshine outside and I bought gatorade today.  I never want to spend another hour of the day inside again.  I think I'm probably the biggest hippy in Corvallis.  Well, maybe second to the guy with fake grass on his car.

Sunday was the best day ever becuase Mel and I went strolling around downtown in the golden sunshine and bought the sweetest belts ever in the discount bin at West Moon.  Mine is trippy to the extreme.  I got so many compliments on it and it was only five bucks!  Then we wandered some more and ate chips while lounging on the park benches at the waterfront and trying to decide which people were on dates and which were "just friends."  At which point my mom called to say that my dad had just gone to immediate care because he felt really sick and could I please come home and bring her my set of keys so that she could go check on him.  WHAT?!?!  That was a shocker.  Apparently he had insisted on driving himself becuase that's the kind of person my dad is.  It turns out he has Bronchitis, but he'll be fine.

My new goal is just not to let school get to me.  I may be super frustrated with my inability to get a good grade in math, but I'm just  gonna let it slide.  I waste too much time being angry and sulking on the couch with boxes of Girl Scout cookies (my parents bough $70 worth of cookies this year - we're hardcore).  If anyone sees my after my D Block Advanced Algebra, remind me to keep my chin up.  Lord knows I'm not always good at keeping my goals.
